A geomarnetic storm, or solar storm, is headed towards Earth and is predicted to hit the planet today. It has been classified as G1, which means it is mild, the geomagnetic storm is unlikely to cause any damage to life on Earth. However, it can still affect power grids and impact some satellite functions such as those used for GPS systems and mobile devices.
