Researchers have discovered a method of breaking down PFAS or perfluoroalkyl chemicals, also known as "forever chemicals" that have been in use as a waterproofing and nonstick agent for more than 70 years. The new technique could be used to successfully degrade 10 perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl ether carboxylic acids (PFECAs).
